Drink Driving – Brighton

According to Sussex Police, 31 people were arrested in Sussex and Brighton last weekend on suspicion of Drink Driving.

Apparently the warm weather is to blame. Sunshine and beer go hand in hand; beer and driving do not.

Remember the legal limit is only 35mg of alcohol in 100ml breath, 107mg of alcohol in 100mg of urine and 80mg of alcohol in 100mg of blood. With the warm weather hopefully set to stay in Brighton for the Easter bank holiday weekend, the police will be on the lookout for drink drivers. Be warned, if in doubt leave your car behind. If you are convicted of drink driving in all but exceptional cases, you will lose your licence and will be disqualified from driving for a minimum of 12 months.

Remember also that if the police suspect you have committed an offence of death by careless driving, driving or attempting to drive whilst unfit through drink or drugs or being in charge of a vehicle whilst unfit through drink  or drugs they can ask you for a sample of breath, blood or urine. If you fail or refuse to give that sample without reasonable excuse you will be guilty of the separate offence of failing to provide a specimen.
